The ninth leg of the Grosvenor U.K. Poker Tour came to an end after 4 playdays, and Brian Clarke, a night watchman from Scotland, cashed in almost £100,000.
341 players gathered to try their skill in the 9th leg of the Grosvenor U.K. Poker Tour Blackpool, but only one could emerge victorious and that was Brian Clarke. The final table split almost £300,000, with £96,500 going to Clarke.
The heads-up play had Clarke going up against Zachary Ford, the latter starting with a massive chip size compared to his opponent. However, one hand in particular helped Clarke gain a critical pot, after which he slowly, but surely, increased his stack, eventually winning the entire event: he was all-in with 6-5, while Ford had K-T and since the flop and turn did not help any of them, Ford seemed to take the win. However, a 5 on the river gave Clarke the chance he needed to get back in the game.
The final hand came about one hour later, when Ford had A-K, while the Scotsman had pocket queens. A king on the flop temporarily gave the edge to Ford and an ace on the turn changed nothing, but the queen on the reaver sealed the deal and Clarke won £96,500 thanks to his trips.
