Two poker players were ejected from the first event of the 2012 Aussie Millions after trying to pull a fast con over the Crown Poker Room security and tournament staff. The opening event was a $1,100 buy-in featuring a repechage format, which means each table in the tournament is played down to one player before re-seating.
After one player was eliminated from the tournament, he then tried to switch places with another friend, who’s names remain undisclosed, who was in the process of moving to a new table. The two claimed he forgot about a prior engagement that restricted him from playing in Day 2, so he offered his chips and seating card to his buddy.
If it wasn’t for a sharp-eyed tournament supervisor, they likely would have gotten away with their “second chance” scam. Security took a look at the surveillance tapes and confirmed the two individuals had made the trade while moving to a new table. Both players have since been disqualified from the event and banned from playing at the Crown Casino any time in the near future.
